More info

This is a peacefull shoaling species by nature and very suitable for a small tank as they easily “disappear” in a larhe volume tank. They do not grow bigger than 2.5 cm.

They’re best to be kept with other small and peacefull fish as Epiplatus Annulatus (art.1400), Nannostomus species, other small tetras, or a Corydoras Habrosus (art.1138) or Pygmaeus (art.1184).

This species is kept most at ease in a tank with ample plants, dark bottom and schoales of 10 to 20 fish. Under these circumstances they will show their best behaviour and colour. Kept in pairs they will not show their bright red colour their named after.

The temperature is best kept between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius. pH around 7. It does have a small mouth, so correspondingly-sized foods are best. Feed a mixture of dried flakes and granules and small live and frozen foods. A varied diet, such as this, is essential for the best colour development
